Here are Ali's top food and fitness tips to help you look runway ready, and feel good too!
#1 Try a salad.
Who doesn't love a good salad? A tossed green salad with California French dressing (which is naturally lower in fat than most dressings!) is Ali's go-to meal. She loves to add a little cheese and onion for flavor, for a low carb, high energy snack or meal. A good salad doesn't have to be bland, and can include a variety of veggies, fruits, nuts, herbs, and spices, as well as grilled seafood or chicken. When in doubt at a restaurant, order a salad with the dressing on the side. Don't heap on the cheese or bacon either!
#2 Run, run, run!
Ali's love for running has helped her develop toned, lean legs, and helps her stay fit. But don't worry, running doesn't have to be a challenge! If you can't run, speed walk or jog. Try running on a treadmill to relieve pain if necessary. Ali always changes up her workouts so she don't get bored. Run through the streets or through local parks, up hills, and on the grass. Just remember to include long periods of light running to build up endurance, and short bursts of sprinting to help build strength and to tone your butt and legs.
#3 Eat lots of fruit.
Fruit is an important part of Ali's diet. Low in fat, fruit contain good carbs for short term energy. Fruit also helps you feel awake and energized. Try delicious, but naturally lower in sugar fruits to help rev your metabolism. Ali's favorite fruits are rasberries, strawberries, apples, and grapes.
#4 Stay active.
Ali's number one key to success is staing active. " I eat whatever I want," Ali told us. "I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, and lean meat, but I also enjoy Wendy's French-fries, cookies, and Cheez-its. You can still eat the things you love if it's in moderation and you get plenty of exercise." Even on days Ali doesn't workout, she still stays active by playing with her dog, doing a few crunches, or playing Just Dance 4. Get up and be active! Move around and talk a walk, even if it's through the mall (just don't hit up the food court afterwards!)
